The day Germany surrendered.

I remember the day of mixed emotions. I had tears of joy and sadness! May 8, 1945.
The day
“All the day long,
Whether rain or shine
She’s was part of the assembly line.
She’s making history,
Working for victory
Rosie the Riveter.”
This inspired us ladies to work those long hard hours in the factories. There, I felt energy in the air and people, giving our everything, our best to help out in the war. On a brighter note, we were all very happy to hear that our loved ones were coming back from war. After 6 long years of only writing letters once a week to my family, I could finally see them & reunite as family again. Do you remember the day world war 2 ended? How did you feel? Happy? Sad? Relieved?

End of the war, a great day for all of us, I have to say? The end of the war meant that my husband won't have to go through any of that horror in war anymore. It also meant that I could safely sail over to Canada with my son and reunite with my husband and see his family for the very first time.
The day world war 2 ended, i was relieved and a little worried at the same time. i was relieved because i knew that the days of scarce food and nightmares of what is to come from Hilter was done for. But.. i was also scared that history would repeat itself and we would find ourselves at a huge boom and a huge bust all over again. i really didnt want to relive the depression ever again.
Probably the best day for mama and I! However, my mama, like you, also lost her job at the factory that day. Mama said it was expected, but we didn’t expect it to be that horrible. We had no source of income, and we had no idea what was in store for us in the future! Mama was depressed and worried throughout the whole time, and the family relied on me volunteering for our neighbor, Baker David, for food. Farmer Joe, I know exactly what you mean! Mama was so scared about “history repeating itself”. But I’m glad, so far, everything’s been going alright. I know there has been a recent recession, but I’m glad to see my grandchildren living happily right now.
Man, were the newspapers bustling on that day! It was a great day for all of us, to know that the war was over. We had stood strong, and we had won! Finally, we didn't have to live in fear the Nazis, and we no longer had to weep for the valiant Canadians dying overseas. This day was especially memorable for me, because I was the one who wrote the front page article all about it! However, like you said, Farmer Joe, we were worried about another depression too! The day I'm looking forward to now is when that war in Afghanistan finally ends. My grandson Kyle is overseas right now! When will the world learn that war just isn't the way to settle things?
